A second tragedy has family in need of help. The Pitts family, who lost their father, Walter Joe Pitts, in October from liver cancer also lost mother Eileen Pitts Wednesday night. She was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer in November.
Sarah Pitts, 26, said after her mother was diagnosed with cancer, they thought she was going to be OK because her treatments were going well. However, Eileen wound up getting MRSA (methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus: antibiotic-resistant staph infection).
The fundraiser will be held Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hemingway's, 612 Boulevard, Seaside Heights. It includes a buffet, DJ, cash bar, gift auction and 50/50 raffle for a $25 donation in advance or $30 at the door. Call (732) 581-6265 or (609) 223-2306 to purchase tickets.
