2008 LIVESTRONG Summit

As it stands today Senator John McCain will be attending the LIVESTRONG Summit Columbus, Ohio on July 24th in a LIVESTRONG Presidential Townhall on Cancer. I cannot wait to hear his plans to renew the "war on cancer" which Richard Nixon started over 30 years ago. Many of the delegates are very excited to be a part of history.

Over the last few weeks more and more delegates on the my.livestrong.org LIVESTRONG Summit forum are getting a bit worried that Senator Obama will not be making an appearance at the Summit. Some people are really upset and are calling or emailing his offices. He is definitely hitting a nerve with some of his own supporters by not accepting his invitation.

Though I really want Senator Obama there we cannot change the fact that he is a very busy man. During the time of the Summit he is currently scheduled to be in Europe and the Middle East, possibly Iraq. We will see what he ends up doing.

Regardless of Senator Obama's attendance I am sure the 1000 delegates from around the world will all have a life changing experience. The 2006 Summit was my own jumping off point (as LAF President Doug Ulman likes to say in the Summit video) and it is what made me share my experience, create this blog, raise funds, hold events and much more. I cannot wait to see what I do after this Summit!

The LAF is really making a name for themselves as an organization who hold our elected officials accountable. It will certainly be an event to remember and I cannot wait to go.

I leave Wed. July 23rd to help the LAF set up for the Summit and Thursday is going to be a long one. We start preparing the site at the Ohio Statehouse at 7am and we will work there getting people registered and greeting them until 6PM. Then at 7pm we will have the LIVESTRONG Presidential Townhall on Cancer with Senator McCain. I am used to long days so I cannot wait. 9 Days and counting!
